Enhancing Career Success:
The Value of Career Services and Opportunities at Lagos Business School MBA Careers and Placement Office

Choosing a career path can be a daunting task, and finding a job that aligns with your goals and aspirations can be challenging. Lagos Business School's MBA programme is recognised for its intensive academic curriculum that prepares students for leadership roles in the business world. This blog post highlights the importance and benefits of career services and opportunities provided by the MBA Careers and Placement Office at LBS.

Career services and opportunities are essential components of any MBA programme. They provide students with the skills, resources, and connections they need to succeed in their chosen careers. These services and opportunities also contribute to the overall development of students, preparing them for long-term success in the business world.

Two case studies illustrate the impact of career services and opportunities at LBS MBA Careers and Placement Office. The first is about Kemi Adeyemi, a finance manager at a leading bank, who enrolled in the LBS MBA programme to advance her career. With the help of career coaching, job search support, and industry insights sessions, Kemi was able to develop a personalized career plan, expand her professional network, and secure a more senior role in her company. On the other hand, Tunde Akande, a marketing manager at a startup, did not take advantage of the career services and opportunities provided by the MBA Careers and Placement Office. As a result, he struggled to secure a job after graduation and was forced to settle for a lower-paying role in a different industry.

Benefits of Career Services and Opportunities

Networking is a vital benefit of career services and opportunities that provide students with opportunities to network with professionals from various industries. This networking can lead to internships, job opportunities, and partnerships in the future. Career services and opportunities can also help students develop new skills that they may not have had the chance to learn in the classroom. Participating in a case competition, for example, can teach problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills. Additionally, career services and opportunities provide guidance on career paths, job searches, and interview preparation, which is crucial for students to make informed decisions about their future careers. Finally, students can gain insights into various industries, allowing them to make informed decisions about their career paths.
